Resident Camp - Guidelines & Policies
"Our Home In The Woods"

Please find below a wealth of information on any guidelines, rules or policies that Camp Adahi might have.  The information presented below has been developed based upon experience.  Should other needs or situations arise, these guidelines will adjust accordingly.

annual
Camp Adahi is owned and operated by Camp Fire USA Adahi Council, one of the nation’s leading youth development organizations, which is comprised of many members and overseen by a Board of Directors.  As a membership organization, Adahi Council holds an annual membership meeting each August.  This meeting provides families vital information about the state of the council, as well as an opportunity to become involved in council decisions.  We urge all Camp Adahi families to participate in this aspect of your child’s development.  August 11, 2010.
Open House - April 25, 2010 from 1 to 3 PM

Appointments:
If a camper has an appointment during the program hours, parents/guardians should leave written notice with the staff member at check-in.  A notice will be given to the staff member in charge of the camper’s group, requesting that the camper be prepared.  The camper will be waiting with a staff member at the Multi-Purpose room located near the swimming pool.

Arrival/Departure:
Please park in our upper parking lot.  Proceed to our Camp Office (Hillside) with your child’s belongings.  Check-In will ensue at Hillside where our staff will collect any paperwork, payments or medications you may have.  We will also conduct a brief examination of your child’s physical condition in your presence.

All campers will have their belongings with them at check-out, Friday evening.

Camp Store:
Our Camp Store will be open daily during pool hours.  At this time, campers may visit and purchase an afternoon snack or camp souvenirs.  Items are generally inexpensive.  We do not allow campers to carry money; store accounts must be opened at Check-In.  We recommend approximately $50.00, and any transactions concerning the store account must be made at the time of Check-In.  We will also honor any parental restrictions on store purchases.  Camp Adahi places the following restrictions on purchases:

  • All campers may only purchase 1 candy item per day.
  • All camp souvenir purchases must be accompanied by written parental permission.

Fishing:
We invite all campers with their own rods, reels, and bait to join us in our fishing program.  Interested campers must pass our fishing safety course.  Once completed, fishermen will be accompanied by staff to the waterfront.  Fishing equipment may be stored at Camp Adahi Monday - Friday.  We are not responsible for any damage done to equipment stored at Camp Adahi.

Homesickness:
It is quite normal for campers to experience homesickness.  Our staff is prepared to identify such feelings and encourage campers to participate in the camp activities.  Generally campers adjust to their surroundings and thrive in our program within a few days.  In the event that your child does not adapt well (by the third day), our director will contact the parent to discuss any further actions.

Your child’s belongings must be clearly marked with their name.  Unlabeled items are most often lost and least often recovered.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Meals:
All meals are provided by Camp Adahi.  Meals are served cafeteria-style.  Meals from home or special accommodations are not permitted (with the exception of doctor-noted dietary restrictions or food allergies).  We maintain an all-inclusive policy, and believe that mealtime plays an important role in inclusiveness.

Medications:
All prescription medications must be registered in the Med Log at Check-In.  A notice will be given to the staff member in charge of the camper’s group asking them to send the camper to the Multi-Purpose Room at the appropriate time.  All medications are kept in a locked cabinet and dispensed by trained staff.

Money:
We suggest that campers bring money (approximately $50) for any items they wish to buy (stamps, souvenirs, snacks in the Camp Store, etc.) during their stay at Camp Adahi.  This money will be placed in an account for each camper at Check-In.  We discourage campers from having money in their possession at Camp Adahi.

Parking:
When parents or guardians arrive to drop off/pick up campers, they must use our Upper Parking lot, accessible via Hartz Store Rd.  For the safety of campers, parents and staff, all vehicles must be shut off while the driver is away from the vehicle.  In addition, Camp Adahi only allows authorized camp vehicles beyond the Upper Parking lot.  Arrangements for handicap parking can be made with the Camp Director.

Pool:
The pool is divided into sections (red - 0’-3’, yellow - 4’-6’, blue - 6’-9’).  For safety precautions our lifeguards will evaluate each campers swimming ability upon their first day at the pool.  Each camper will then be allowed to swim in the sections for which they demonstrated aptitude.  Lifeguards will be on duty at all times.

Telephone Use:
If there are any questions or concerns while your child is at Camp Adahi, please feel free to call our office and speak with our staff between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm.  We discourage direct phone calls to campers however; we believe that this interaction can obstruct your child’s enjoyment of camp.

total
For more than a decade, Camp Fire USA Adahi Council has been committed to family strengthening.  With the inception of the Total Family Concept in 1996, Adahi Council has served families in a variety of capacities with one common goal:  to develop essential skills and assets in youth through family togetherness and development.

Upon youth enrollment into any of our programs, the Total Family Concept entitles the entire family to a council membership.  This membership provides numerous benefits that include special programs and events that are geared toward family strengthening and youth development.  These programs and events (holiday parties, field trips, service opportunities, etc.) are held throughout the year, with weekly events during the summer, and monthly events during the school year.

Visitation:
We do not allow family visits during the camping session.  Our mission is to build caring, confident youth and we believe this is accomplished when your child is allowed to experience camp independently.

However, we do welcome other forms of communication from family members!  Emails can be sent to with your child’s name in the subject line.  Care packages and letters may be sent to:

Camp Fire USA Adahi Council
172 Hartz Store Rd.
Mohnton, PA 19540

Please remember to mark your package or letter with attention to your child’s name. We reserve the right to inspect packages and mailings.  Please do not send food, drink or any other restricted items listed on the “Camp Essentials” document.  Thank you for your cooperation.
